Leeward designs, installs and maintains gardens and water features of all styles and sizes. We focus on native plants when designing new gardens and utilize pollinator friendly practices whenever possible. Reilly - Owner

Since he was 12 years old Reilly’s been working in residential landscapes spreading mulch for neighbors or designing water features for his parents.

A love of the ocean brought Reilly to the University of New England in Southern Maine, where he earned a B.S. in Environmental Science. After graduating, Reilly worked for a couple different scientific organizations, including NOAA, before quickly realizing he needed a change. He rediscovered his love for gardening while working for a fine gardening company in Denver, Colorado and would spend the next 4 years traveling the US, working for different landscaping companies. He found that gardening offered creative opportunities and hands-on work that could benefit both people and the planet, leading him to eventually start Leeward Fine Gardening.

With over a decade of formal and self study, and direct work experience with top landscaping firms, Reilly has a wealth of knowledge which informs his gardening and business practices. He believes in treating employees with respect and compassion while paying above industry average wages. Happy gardeners make happy gardens! And happy gardens benefit both clients and wildlife.

When not working Reilly enjoys spending time outdoors sailing, skiing or exploring Maine’s coast with his dog Woody.
